Faithful a concept of selfish!
After two days of not
updating my blog, I've become aware how difficult it is to be loyal and faithful. I see
people around me failing to keep this principle of faithfulness. However, i have noticed how they
(we) turn to be 100% faithful to things that are beneficiary to them. True? False?
It depends on a person? .
To most of you, when we hear the
word ‘faithful’ we quickly think about faithfulness in a relationship. While,
being faithful actually expand to almost everything we do and to those around us. Like,
being faithful to your pledge, your debt, your diet, job, friendships, and even
to yourself (particularly, your own words).
I know one can be true to himself
and to these above mentioned things yet being faithful is another story! Faithfulness
in this context means adhering firmly, reliable, and devoted to something.
Words like vows, loyal and promise (these are the hardest things a human can
keep, even a mother to her child she sometimes fail to keep them, a pastor at a
church, a lawyer to the law, a spouse to his spouse, a student to her studies)
also define faithfulness!
Being faithful it a life
style, it not something that you wake up and you able to do. It grows with you.
It a skill you teach yourself and guide it with rule. It is impossible to be
faithful without having some boundaries or some rules.
It not easy.
Oh! Maybe it is, if something is in for you. Am I going to be gaining something?
Thus, it is that faith that
keeps us faithful. Faith that good thing(s) might come out of being faithful. Hope
that being Faithful will pay off.
Does it mean we are become
faithful in a hope of achieving something for ourselves?
For example, Do Christians
stay faithful to God (Jesus) because they know there faithfulness will lead
them to heaven; does staying faithful to your partner motivated by the hope that
they will love you more or they do the same; being faithful to your pledge because
you believe to get more out of it?
Are we becoming a selfish nation?
Are we entering in an individualism era? Are we that selfish that everything we
do have to be beneficiary to us? Can’t we be faithful and do something out of
kindness (not the bursary/ scholarship kindness because they benefit for giving
out scholarships, less tax) and do not expect anything back?
Answer to these questions varies
or/and unknown as we don't know who to blame. As though we are so self centered
we cannot blame ourselves. It is never you, ME, it someone else, it’s something
else.
What is it, that should we
blame; Capitalism, civilization, slavery, apartheid, nature, Government, government
policies, globalization, religion, culture? Who? What?
As a selfish nation we have
to blame someone or something for our inability to be faithful! Does blaming
someone or something help us at all?
I’m a part of that nation! In
my first post I promised to treat this blog like a child, be loyal to it and
check it every day. Two days have passed. Wasn’t Faithful. I didn’t keep my
promises. Is it because I’m not getting paid out of this blog? Is it because I feel
like no one reads my blog? Is it because I’m not benefiting from this blog? I’m
the part of the SELFISH society. Because maybe I would be more Faithful to my
blog if I was getting something out of it.
In concluding, have you notice you hardly see people who are being faithful to something which they are not benefiting from. In this century people put their energy, time and money to something that gives them something at the end of it. they should be something in for them. But, do you blame them for being unfaithful to things that they don't benefit from? is Faithful a concept of selfish?
